EV Charger Installation, Central Coast
Getting an EV charger installed at home shouldn't be a gamble. We'll check your switchboard, run a dedicated circuit, and get you charging properly.
Home EV charger installation done right
More Central Coast families are switching to electric vehicles every month. The first thing most people find out? Charging off a standard power point is painfully slow. A proper home charger on a dedicated circuit is the way to go. Faster charging, safer setup, and you're not gambling on an overloaded circuit.
Edward and the team install home EV chargers across Kariong and the Central Coast. Every install starts with a site assessment. We check your meter board capacity, work out the best route for cabling, and make sure your switchboard can handle the extra load. If your board needs upgrading first, we'll sort that too. No need to call a second sparky.
We work with all the major charger brands: Tesla Wall Connector, Zappi, ABB, and Fronius Wattpilot. Already bought your charger? No worries, we'll install it. Haven't decided yet? We can talk you through the options and help you pick the right one for your car and your house. No sales pitch, just honest advice from a sparky who's wired plenty of them.
If you've got solar panels on the roof, an EV charger is a natural fit. Charge your car during the day using the power your panels are already producing. Some smart chargers can even adjust their charging rate based on how much solar you're generating. Free fuel from the sun. That's a win.
What's involved in an EV charger install
What does it cost?
Most home EV charger installations run between $1,500 and $3,000. The final price depends on the charger you choose, the distance from your switchboard to the charging location, and whether your switchboard needs upgrading first.
We give upfront quotes after the site assessment. No bill shock, no hidden extras. You'll know exactly what it costs before we start. That's how Edward's run things since 2000, and it's not changing.

Common questions
Do I need a switchboard upgrade for an EV charger?
It depends on your current board. If you've got an older switchboard or it's already near capacity, we'll need to upgrade it before installing the charger. We check this during the site assessment so there are no surprises. If your board's in good shape with spare capacity, we can wire straight in.
How long does installation take?
A straightforward install where the charger's near the switchboard and the board's in good shape usually takes half a day. If we need to run cable a longer distance or upgrade the switchboard first, it can stretch to a full day. We'll give you a clear timeframe after the site assessment.
Can I charge my EV from solar panels?
Yes, and it's one of the smartest setups going. If you've got solar, we can wire your charger so it uses excess solar during the day. Some chargers like the Zappi can automatically adjust charging based on how much solar you're producing. Charge your car for free from the sun. Hard to argue with that.
